For more than 50 years, as part of Indonesian society, AQUA has firmly upheld our commitment to making business a force for spreading goodness, including in humanitarian matters. This is demonstrated by AQUA's ongoing concrete actions for the people of Palestine in response to the tragedy that has struck the country.
As a form of sympathy and concern, various forms of Palestine donations have been sent by AQUA through collaboration with trusted partners, such as:
- Humanitarian aid for Palestine of IDR 1 billion through the Lazismu Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah in November 2023.
- Humanitarian aid for Palestine of IDR 500 million through the National Zakat Agency (Baznas) in November 2023.
- Humanitarian aid for Palestine of IDR 1 billion through NU Care-LAZISNU, Central Board of NU (PBNU) in November 2023.
- Humanitarian aid for Palestine of IDR 630 million through the Palestinian Embassy in 2023.
- Humanitarian aid for Palestine of IDR 250 million through the Halal Product Guarantee Organizing Agency in December 2023.
- Humanitarian aid for Palestine in the form of distributing 30,000 AQUA mineral water products through the Navy and LAZISNU in December 2023.
- Collaboration with various retailers to collect Palestine donations from AQUA product sales.
AQUA's stance on the Palestinian tragedy reflects the commitment of all AQUA employees to help ease the burden of our brothers and sisters in Palestine. In fact, internal donations from the Danone Indonesia Muslim Employees Community (KARISMA) were made, totaling IDR 130 million.
Harsa Fardiyan, the head of KARISMA, said, “We also hope that, ultimately, the people of Palestine can have a decent life like the one we enjoy.”
AQUA's response to this concrete action also came from the Vice President General Secretary, Vera Galuh Sugijanto. She stated that AQUA, under the auspices of Danone Indonesia, always aims to bring health to the Indonesian community through quality beverage products produced in factories located in Indonesia, by Indonesian employees, and for the Indonesian people.
"As a private entity, all companies under Danone Indonesia have no affiliation with any political groups, including Israel. In line with the stance of the Indonesian government, Danone in Indonesia opposes all forms of aggression, including Israeli aggression in Palestine, and supports the Indonesian government's efforts in advocating for Palestinian independence. This is also believed by the 13,000 employees who are union members," explained Vera.
Ahmad Metani, Deputy Ambassador of Palestine, who is one of the recipients of the Palestine donation, greatly appreciated the support from the Indonesian government and people towards Palestine.
"I am very pleased to receive AQUA representatives, not only because of the donation provided but also due to the company's support for the people in Gaza, Palestine. Once again, I would like to express my gratitude," he said.
Vera concluded by emphasizing that AQUA's actions in doing good will always be carried out, especially during humanitarian disasters, because goodness that is continuously delivered will be more beneficial and dignified.
