7 Cara Agar Kuat Lari Jarak Jauh dan Meningkatkan Stamina

The key to running long distances without getting tired quickly starts with thorough preparation. Long-distance running relies not only on speed but also on stamina—the body’s ability to sustain physical activity over a long period without getting tired easily.

To improve your endurance, you need the right combination of training, nutrition, hydration, rest, and proper running technique.

So, what do you need to do to keep your stamina up while running? Let’s explore the guide below before you start running!

Ways to Get Stronger at Long-Distance Running

Running isn't just about leg strength because it also requires proper technique, consistent training, and a balance of nutrition and hydration. Without proper preparation, your body will fatigue easily, performance will decline, and the risk of injury may increase.

For an optimal training session or target marathon exercise, here are some ways to get stronger at long distance-running that you can apply:

1. Train Body Endurance

One way to get stronger at long-distance running is to train regularly 3 to 4 times a week for at least 30 minutes per session.

As you increase your weekly training sessions, gradually adjust your running speed from slow to fast.

Additionally, muscle strength training is also essential to maintain the body’s stability, increase running efficiency, and prevent injuries. You can train with weightlifting to strengthen your legs, core, and upper body.

Do not forget to pair it with the plank pose, which helps strengthen the abdominals and lower body to maintain a stable posture while running.

2. Train Effective Running Techniques

A variety of training methods can help your body adapt to different running intensities and build stamina.

One of these is long slow distance (LSD). It is a run at a comfortable pace for a longer duration to build aerobic endurance and train the body to use fat as an energy source.

Additionally, you can practice interval training by combining fast running and slow running or rest time to improve VO2 max capacity.

Meanwhile, tempo running is done at a steady pace and is challenging for about 20–30 minutes to help improve lactate threshold, allowing the body to run longer.

3. Record Time and Distance

Building stamina for long-distance running is a long-term process that must be done gradually. Increase the duration and distance step by step each time you train.

Focus on consistent distance because speed will naturally follow endurance.

4. Control Your Breathing, Running Pace, and Body Posture

Controlling your breathing, pace, and posture can support more efficient running and help maintain stamina.

Use diaphragmatic breathing to help your lungs take in oxygen efficiently, then keep your posture upright, shoulders relaxed, and your gaze straight ahead to reduce tension while running.

In short-distance training, you can run faster; it typically helps your body tolerate lactate buildup and improve speed.

Meanwhile, when training for long-distance running, use a comfortable, steady pace to avoid running out of energy too quickly.

5. Eat Nutritious Foods

Meeting your nutritional needs can help maintain stamina and support recovery after running. Carbohydrates are the main energy source for runners, so aim to get about 55-65% of your daily energy from carbohydrates.

Choose complex carbohydrates, such as whole grains, brown rice, and sweet potatoes, especially before and after running. If you start to feel tired and your mood drops, increasing your carbohydrate intake can help.

Also, make sure you meet your iron and vitamin B needs. Iron helps form hemoglobin, which carries oxygen to your muscles, while vitamin B supports energy production.

You can also find these nutrients in red meats, spinach, whole seeds, and dairy milk.

6. Always Practice Warm-Up and Cool-Down

Don't skip warm-up and cool-down every time you run, because both play important roles in maintaining performance and speeding recovery.

Before running, do a light warm-up for 5–10 minutes, such as slow jogging or brisk walking, to improve blood flow to the muscles, prepare joints, and reduce injury risk.

After running, cool down for 5–10 minutes by brisk walking or static stretching to help your heart rate return to normal, support muscle recovery, and maintain flexibility.

To help restore stamina, eat foods with carbohydrates and protein about 30 minutes after training or long-distance running.

7. Stay Hydrated and Get Enough Rest

Hydration and sufficient sleep are often overlooked, but both play an important role in maintaining stamina.

Drink enough water before, during, and after running to prevent dehydration, which can lower performance.

Also, sleep 7–9 hours every night to restore energy, repair muscle tissue, and improve stamina for your next workout.

Those are several ways to fo to get stronger at long-distance running. Consistently adopting the steps above can help you build stamina for long-distance running safely and effectively.
